The One and Only Chris Martin is an uplifting show about being content in life, despite, according to Chris, having the most annoying name in comedy.

Hi Chris, tell me about your Edinburgh show.

With all the depressing news in 2016 and 2017, I wanted to highlight some moments of joy, whether they’re from being married, being cuddled or seeing a pigeon take a train.

What does Edinburgh mean to you?

In means a fun month where I get to hang out with lots of my friend’s in the world of comedy as well as perform to the most comedy savvy audience in the world.

Who inspires you and why?

Dwayne Johnson. I follow him on twitter and all he does is talk about how muscley and successful he is. It should be annoying but is strangely uplifting.

Describe your best or worst experiences on stage.

Best experience was doing the Wellington Opera House in New Zealand this year. Such a fun show. Worst experience was when I cut my finger doing an act out and an audience member had to get me a plaster…I live a very dangerous existence.

Describe your best or worst review.

I don’t read reviews really… however someone did once call me tall… I’m 5ft 10 1/2… so no idea where that came from

If you weren’t a performer, what would you be?

An Uber driver. I would be well good though and have 5 stars as my rating.

What was the last book you read?

“Little Book of Sitcom” It’s about writing sitcoms strangely.

Would you like to be Dwayne Johnson?

Yes.

Imagine that the BBC have asked you to produce a primetime show. What would it be and who else would be involved?

It would almost certainly be a TV version of a podcast I do with Trevor Crook and Carl Donnelly called Babysitting Trevor. It would involve making Trevor do stuff and hearing his thoughts on it as he’s the laziest funniest man I know. Check out the podcast if you don’t believe me.
