There was a review that annoyed me from last year. It essentially bashed me for being a Tory, despite me having absolutely no political leaning at all in the show. I think what happened is the reviewer had seen that I was talking about being posh and wore chinos and so had labelled me as something he hated.

My best review was from The Herald who called me ‘Staggeringly Impressive’. My worst was from Fest Mag who said I was like an ‘Indie Jim Davidson’ ha ha. I love that.

I appreciate what a good review can do for a show, but in the same regard, I hate that one person’s opinion can make or break a show.

It is a hard job to criticize an artistic demonstration. The appreciation of a show is way more subjective and less tangible than marking an exam or commenting a sporting event. That is probably why I have a love hate relationship with reviewers.
